A re work from my notes. Originally titled "Eyes wide shut", I have done this again from my notes and images, and in theme with the times this one is called "Shades of grey"
Oh, this is absolutely gorgeous! I love the mystical haze that surrounds this woman who seems to have stepped out of the 1930s. One of the most beautiful works you have posted here, if not THE most splendid!
This was worth the effort, you cannot beat the beauty of a good looking woman wearing a stylish hat, the effort here was on the subtlety of the feathers in the hat and the material in her dress. There's a nuance from the shaded face and expression too. Out of all these styles of drawing this has been my personal choice. A3 220gr paper, 4B-9B pencil.
Another experiment, mainly to try light against a dark background, but it is difficult to get the balanced tone through out the shade. Again a lot of attention needed to the hair. 220gr cartridge paper, 4B-9B pencil and some experimental charcoal.
